Ski Touring & Snow Safety Weekend

Combine a tranquil escape in the heart of the Dolomites with an introduction to the world of ski touring in a unique and breathtaking landscape.

Join us for a weekend at our remote and idyllic alpine hotel. You will have the opportunity to learn basic ski touring skills from a certified mountain guide and savor local cuisine during the evenings.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1 – Friday

Meet at 5:00 PM at the Utia de Borz hotel after check-in for a welcome aperitif and equipment check, followed by dinner at our restaurant and a theoretical session.

Day 2 - Saturday

Saturday is all about action! You will start the day immersing yourself in safety equipment and ski gear, putting into practice ascent and descent techniques during an introductory snowshoe hike led by our expert instructor. During this excursion, you'll have the chance to apply what you learned in the previous day's theory session, making your experience hands-on and engaging. After breakfast at the hotel, we'll also provide you with a packed lunch to enjoy during the hike. Upon your return to the hotel, a relaxing evening awaits, followed by an extraordinary dinner featuring the Hot Pot, a unique culinary experience that will delight your senses. During the evening, you'll have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of avalanche rescue and critical decision-making in emergency situations. Optional: Participants have the option to take part in the course while using snowshoes provided by us.

Day 3 - Sunday

You will put everything you've learned in the previous days into practice and plan the day's excursion, applying your decision-making skills, excursion planning, and avalanche rescue scenarios.

Skills acquired:

• Basic ski touring skills, including skinning, turns, descent techniques, and more.
• Avalanche theory and decision-making strategies.
• Avalanche reports and excursion planning.
• Practical exercises on decision-making and applying avalanche knowledge.
• Avalanche rescue scenarios.

Course objectives:

• Improvement of your off-piste skiing skills.
• Acquisition of the necessary skills to independently and safely assess avalanche situations in the mountains.
• Preparation for the worst-case scenario: an avalanche accident.
• Basic knowledge and equipment for planning future ski touring excursions.

Skill Requirements: Basic skiing skills and fitness level (up to 800 meters of elevation gain per day).

Minimum/Maximum Participants: Minimum group of 4 participants (up to a maximum of 6 participants).

Accommodation in single-use double room: €570.00
