Altonn – Autumn in Val Badia
A colour festival in the Puez-Odle Nature Park
Days gradually get shorter and cooler, but at the same time one of the most spectacular natural displays is taking place: the leaves or needles of trees change their colours, ditching their green summer hues for a fleeting explosion of yellow, orange and red. It is a marvellous sight to behold, and it can be experienced in the woods at Passo delle Erbe and in the surrounding valleys.
Peace, silence... and the last excursions of the year
Many trekking enthusiasts regard autumn as their favourite season of the year. The woods and mountains are a lot less crowded compared to the summer, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the Dolomites and the Puez-Odle Nature Park in complete silence, among the magical foliage colours of the wonderful autumn panorama.
During autumn it is important to thoroughly check the walking times and to carry proper clothing, as the days get gradually shorter and cooler. But at the same time September and October are usually the driest months in Val Badia and in South Tyrol, so that wer are less likely to encounter high-altitude thunderstorms.
